Dr Jane Muir
Dr Jane Muir is the Head of Translational Nutrition Science at the Department of Gastroenterology, Monash University, Melbourne, Australia. She has over 20 years’ experience in the area of nutrition research. Her research has focused on understanding the role of carbohydrates (e.g. resistant starch and dietary fibre) in the health of the gastrointestinal tract.
For the last 10 years her research interest involves investigating the role of FODMAPs on the genesis of symptoms in patients with functional gut disorders such as irritable bowel syndrome. Dr Muir leads the team that developed the Monash University Low FODMAP Diet app which has greatly assisted with the translation of this new diet therapy for controlling IBS symptoms around the world.
